LIFE ON TOUR - ACROSS SOUTH WALES
Life on Tour - An exhibition of life drawings produced by community arts projects
A spectacular and very unusual exhibition of life drawings. These drawings are compiled from a group of artists who meet weekly to work with a live model to explore the nature of the human form. Diverse artists between the ages of 16 – 85, from South Glamorgan will show and sell their work on the main walls of venues throughout South Wales in Bridgend, Cardiff and Newport from June to August 2015.
This exhibition shows a wide range of approaches to practicing and perfecting the intricacies and complexities of the human form in traditional and innovative mediums. This is a rare opportunity to see a compilation of a wide range of exploratory approaches to express ways of representing the nude, from classical to modern, delicate to bold, detailed to expressive. The unifying element is the exploration of life and the beauty of it as seen through artistic eyes. Each artist has selected a drawing from their portfolio that reflects their vision of the human form.
Tuesday evenings at 10 Feet Tall in Cardiff have been running as a drop in Life Drawing session since 2010. The simple format of turn up and sketch for a fiver with a social drink or two following the sketching has proved very popular and a good few friendships have been made. No need to book. Basic resurrect available free of charge!
Wednesday evening drop in Life Drawing in Newport is in it’s first year and continues to develop with this venue offering two hours of sketching along with Arts Award accreditation at Gold Level for the under 25’s. No need to book. Basic resources available free of charge!
Monday and Wednesday evenings Life Drawing at Carnegie House in Bridgend has been running since June 2014. Organised by Christine Lloyd, the sessions began with a few committed artists meeting weekly to draw. Continued enthusiasm and a growing need for life drawing has seen the group grow. Sunday Life Drawing began as a response to this need for more regular practice. All sessions are run as a drop in, so new members are always welcome. There is informal tutoring, an empty room, chairs, a model and enthusiasm for drawing.
